Mananged to find a new van - not quite up to the high standard of the VW
back home but it does have an automatic gearbox which i have come to like
having never driven one before - the initial problem of my clutch foot
wandering onto the brake pedal has been solved (several emergency stops down
the line - you try to brake in a controlled fashion with your left foot!)

Now living on my mate Alun's floor in a little flat one row back from the
sea in a little town called Oakura just outside New Plymouth (where i'm
working) - i think its a bit like Summer Bay from home and away. Have
managed to go surfing every day since i've been here and windsurfed a couple
of times - not as much sand as in the UK and a lot more submerged rocks to
negotiate but its all been good so far.

I start work properly tomorrow (they've been paying me to do nothing last
week) and i'm doing "relief" covering whoever is on holiday until the end of
the month.

Anyhoo - thats all for now - the weather is fantastic (warm and sunny) the
sea is warm and bumpy and the food is amazing too

Hope these pictures breathe a little bit of sunshine back into that chilly
UK winter
